HARARDHERE, Somalia — Somali government forces from the Hiran region, stationed in Harardhere in the Mudug region, have successfully resolved a brief mutiny sparked by the deaths of fellow soldiers in El Baraf.
Distraught over the recent killings, some soldiers had initially abandoned their frontline positions. However, mediation efforts by local district officials and senior army officers led to a peaceful resolution, with the troops agreeing to return to their posts.
Abdullahi Abdi Mohamud, leader of the Macwisley militia, confirmed the resolution to Shabelle Radio, emphasizing the importance of unity. “Efforts have been made to reach an official solution, and now the situation is calm,” he said.
Mohamud also paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in El Baraf. “It is deeply regrettable that these brave individuals, who serve their country without tribal ties, have paid the ultimate price,” he stated.
