Somali President Briefs States on Response to Alleged Israeli Move

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held talks with several Federal Member State presidents and the Governor of Benadir Region focused on safeguarding Somalia’s national unity, amid what the government described as a serious external infringement targeting the Somali state and its people.

According to a statement carried by Raxanreeb Online, the President briefed the leaders on the federal government’s plan to counter actions attributed to Israel’s Prime Minister, which Somali officials say amount to a violation against Somalia’s sovereignty. President Mohamud said the government, working with the Somali public, has intensified efforts to defend the country’s statehood and territorial integrity through internationally recognised legal and diplomatic frameworks. He urged Somali leaders to maintain a unified position in confronting what he characterised as destabilising ambitions that threaten the nation’s existence.

Participants from South West State, Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Waqooyi-bari, and the Benadir administration reaffirmed that Somaliland remains an integral part of the Federal Republic of Somalia. They warned that any move undermining Somalia’s unity could carry far-reaching consequences and create heightened security risks for the wider region.

The leaders also expressed support for the President’s ongoing domestic and international diplomatic engagement aimed at protecting Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and constitutional order.
