International and regional actors have issued strong and aligned rejections of Israel’s reported recognition of the Somaliland administration, reaffirming their full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Saudi Arabia reiterated its solidarity with Somalia, describing Israel’s reported move as an unlawful step that violates international law and the established principles that safeguard state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Iraq, which currently holds the chairmanship of the Arab League, said the reported recognition constitutes a breach of Somalia’s sovereignty and warned that it could undermine security and stability in the Horn of Africa. Yemen also rejected any action that weakens Somalia’s national unity, specifically opposing any form of engagement or recognition between Israel and the Somaliland administration.
Kuwait restated its unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, firmly rejecting any unilateral attempt to recognise a region within Somali territory. Kuwait characterised such initiatives as inconsistent with international law and reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s legitimate government and constitutional institutions.
Jordan likewise confirmed its full backing for Somalia’s unity and security, stating that Israel’s reported recognition runs counter to the principles of the United Nations Charter.
In a coordinated position, the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation condemned Israel’s reported step as unacceptable interference and a violation of international law. Both organisations called for respect for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and urged the protection of regional peace and stability.
