Mogadishu (Raxanreeb Online) — Somali security forces have launched a major operation aimed at dismantling armed criminal gangs that have recently been robbing civilians across districts in the Banaadir region.

The operation, led by the Banaadir Regional Police Command, resulted in the arrest of several armed men accused of carrying out daylight and nighttime robberies targeting residents of Mogadishu.

According to the Banaadir Police Command, individuals who have made a habit of terrorizing civilians through theft and armed assaults will be dealt with firmly. The command warned that perpetrators will be prosecuted and face the full force of the law.

The latest security sweep comes amid growing public concern over an increase in armed robberies in the capital. Many residents have complained that heavily armed gangs have been attacking people in broad daylight and at night, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
