Ceelgaras, Galgaduud (Raxanreeb Online) – In a major breakthrough for regional security, a coordinated and well-planned operation led by Galmudug’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has pushed extremist militants out of several key areas near the town of Ceelgaras in central Somalia.
The operation was spearheaded by the Commander of NISA’s Galmudug Division, General Faisal Ibrahim Caanood, who personally led the mission on the ground. Backed by units from the Galmudug Police Force and the Presidential Guard, the joint forces swept through remote villages that had long served as hideouts for the extremist group known locally as the Khawaarij.
Over the course of the operation, security forces regained control of the villages of Bulacle, Taragaduud, Xirsi Fiin, and Miir Dugul—areas that had become unsafe due to the presence of armed militants. Additional tactical raids were carried out in Sinadhaqo, Labi-Dule, and Dhabana Dhulkuhays, all located within the larger Ceelgaras administrative zone.
Speaking after the operation, Commander Caanood praised the bravery and coordination of the joint security forces, saying their actions had dealt a significant blow to the extremists’ ability to operate freely in the region.
“This is a message to those who seek to destabilize our communities—we will find you, and we will protect our people,” Caanood stated.
Local residents in nearby villages have expressed cautious optimism, welcoming the efforts to restore peace and security in an area that has endured repeated threats and instability.
