Puntland Forces Launch Security Operation After Deadly Roadside Blast

Security sources in Somalia’s Bari region report that a landmine explosion occurred early Tuesday in the Calmiskaad Mountains, along a newly constructed road connecting the areas of Dhaadaar and Bosaso, resulting in multiple casualties.

The explosion struck a mine-clearing vehicle operated by the Puntland Security Forces, killing three soldiers and injuring five others, according to preliminary information.

Those killed were identified as Jamaac Mohamed Caduur, the logistics commander of the Dayax Unit within the Puntland forces, along with a mine-clearance specialist and the driver of the vehicle. The injured personnel were evacuated to medical facilities for treatment.

In response, Puntland security forces launched a security operation and investigation at the site of the blast to secure the area, assess the extent of the threat, and identify those responsible.

The Puntland Administration has not yet released an official statement providing further details on the incident.
