Hiiraan, Somalia (Raxanreeb Online) – Fierce clashes erupted again this morning in Abooreey, a village in the Hiiraan region, as Somali government forces and allied community fighters engaged in heavy combat with Al-Shabaab militants.

According to security sources on the ground, the Somali National Army (SNA), backed by local Macawiisley forces, mounted a strong defense against an Al-Shabaab attack on the area. Residents reported hearing heavy gunfire as the battle unfolded, marking the second day of intense fighting in the region.

The renewed violence comes just hours after government and local forces successfully recaptured Abooreey on Sunday afternoon, wresting control of the area from Al-Shabaab in a coordinated operation.
