Somali Security Forces Arrest Drug Traffickers in Mogadishu

Mogadishu – Somali security forces conducted a well-coordinated operation in Gubadley district last night, resulting in the arrest of several armed individuals suspected of trafficking illicit drugs, including cannabis.

The operation, carried out by the Banadir Regional Security Forces, led to the apprehension of four armed suspects and the seizure of seven loads of cannabis reportedly intended for illegal trade. According to a statement released by the Somali Police Force, the suspects are currently being held at the Heliwaa district police station, where further investigations are underway.

“This operation, successfully conducted in Gubadley district, is part of ongoing efforts by the security forces to combat drug trafficking and its harmful impact on society,” the statement read.

Over the past few days, security forces in Mogadishu have intensified their crackdown on drug traffickers and illegal activities to curb the devastating effects of substance abuse, particularly on the youth. These targeted operations aim to dismantle networks involved in the production, distribution, and sale of illicit substances.

Authorities have also called on the public to assist law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
