Middle Shabelle – (Raxanreeb Online)Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced the successful conclusion of a joint military operation that led to the elimination of 21 senior Al-Shabaab members in the Geelgub area of Middle Shabelle.
In an official statement, NISA confirmed that the operation targeted a high-level gathering of the extremist group and resulted in the deaths of both key commanders and armed fighters. The mission was carried out through a coordinated effort between Somali government forces and local self-defense units known as Macawiisley, combining both airstrikes and ground operations.
Security officials noted that the operation was executed with precision and achieved its objectives as planned. They credited the success to close collaboration between national and community forces and emphasized the continued commitment to disrupting Al-Shabaab’s activities across the region.
NISA concluded its statement by urging the Somali public to remain vigilant and to keep a safe distance from areas that may be targeted in future operations against Al-Shabaab, highlighting the agency’s focus on protecting civilian lives while confronting threats to national security.
