Mogadishu — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is currently holding a meeting at the Presidential Palace with members of the “National Salvation Forum.”

Participants in the meeting include former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, former Speaker of the House of the People Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, and former South West State President Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden.

According to sources close to the presidency, the discussions are focused on the ongoing political tensions in South West State, particularly following today’s incident in which opposition figures were prevented from travelling to Baidoa.

President Hassan Sheikh is reportedly seeking to mediate and resolve the renewed political dispute in South West State and to ensure that opposition politicians are allowed to travel freely to Baidoa.
