BELEDWEYNE (SMN) – In a significant step towards unity and stability, Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Director, Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbaloolshe, addressed hundreds of local forces near Beledweyne, announcing that longstanding conflicts within the community have been resolved. He called for collective efforts to rebuild trust and focus on the development of the region.
Speaking to the gathered troops, Sanbaloolshe emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating local forces into the national framework. “We are determined to nationalize your forces and bring you fully into the fold of statehood. From today onward, let’s unite and work towards the shared goal of defeating extremism,” he said. He encouraged the community to move beyond divisions and take an active role in shaping a brighter future for Beledweyne and Hiiraan.
Sanbaloolshe also underscored the importance of security collaboration and promised that the government would ensure local forces receive the rights and resources they deserve. “We will prioritize your welfare, ensuring your needs are met as we work together for peace and progress,” he assured.
Adding to the message of unity, General Odowaa Yusuf Raage, Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), reminded the community of the government’s accountability to its people. “The actions we have taken against extremist groups like Al-Shabaab are for the protection of our nation. It is unthinkable that such measures could ever be directed at our own people. Hiiraan must remain free from illegal roadblocks and any form of exploitation,” General Odowaa affirmed.
This renewed commitment to reconciliation and security comes at a pivotal moment for Beledweyne. Following successful negotiations, the Somali federal government has officially assumed responsibility for the region’s security, marking a significant milestone in its stabilization efforts.
