Danab-led raid cuts Al-Shabaab supply routes in Lower Jubba

A coordinated raid led by Jubaland security forces and the Somali National Army’s elite Danab Commandos has recaptured the town of Camsuma in Somalia’s Lower Jubba region, which had been under the control of the militant group al-Shabaab.

Officials said the operation, supported by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), disrupted al-Shabaab’s local command structures and targeted senior operatives. Government-aligned forces are now reported to be within roughly 20 kilometres of Jilib, advancing while securing surrounding villages and cutting key supply and movement routes.

The push has reportedly complicated al-Shabaab’s ability to move fighters, weapons and supplies across southern Somalia. Jilib is widely regarded as a strategic hub for the group, serving as a centre for command and coordination, training, taxation and logistics.

Separate reports indicate al-Shabaab had blocked roads in parts of the region and disrupted access to government services. The ongoing offensive is being framed by authorities as a renewed drive by the Federal Government of Somalia and its regional partners to remove al-Shabaab from remaining strongholds.
