MOGADISHU – The Federal Government of Somalia has reiterated its constitutional responsibility to ensure the security and safety of all citizens, stressing that it has already endorsed comprehensive decisions establishing clear security protocols and operational procedures for Aden Adde International Airport and the wider Mogadishu area. The government said these measures have been instrumental in maintaining the current climate of stability and public safety in the capital.
In an official press release, the Federal Government expressed regret at having to inform the Somali public that several members of the Somali Future Forum—who were among the invitees to the National Dialogue Conference scheduled to take place in Mogadishu on 1 February 2026—attempted earlier today to transport armed personnel and weapons by air, without prior authorization and outside the agreed security framework. The government described the incident as a serious breach of the security decisions and protocols in force, which apply equally to senior federal officials, leaders of federal member states, and former national leaders.
According to the statement, federal security agencies, in coordination with the Conference Organising Committee, formally informed the Forum’s designated representatives that the presence or movement of armed personnel and weapons not processed through the agreed security procedures would not be permitted under any circumstances.
The Federal Government concluded by reaffirming that its position regarding the convening of the national dialogue remains unchanged, underscoring its continued commitment to the process. It urged members of the Somali Future Forum to fully respect established security protocols and procedures in order to ensure that the conference proceeds in a peaceful, stable, and secure environment.
