Somalia: Somali Government Calls for Anti-AlShabaab Protest Amid Unresolved Questions from Deadly Attack

Mogadishu, (Raxanreeb) – A high-level security meeting was held today in Mogadishu, chaired by the Federal Security Minister. The meeting was attended by the country’s Police Chief, Sulub Ahmed, the Head of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Sanbalolshe and the Mayor of Mogadishu.

The primary focus of the meeting was to address the current security situation in Mogadishu and to strategize for tomorrow’s government-organized anti-Al-Shabaab protest. Discussions centered around ensuring the safety of citizens during the protest and reinforcing security measures to prevent any potential threats from Al-Shabaab.

The Federal Security Minister emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all security agencies to maintain peace and order in the capital and enable tomorrow’s anti-Al-Shabaab protest to happen in a peacefully.

The meeting and the planned protest come amid security alerts circulating on social media and major questions surrounding last Friday night’s deadly attack, where Al-Shabaab militants killed over 60 people.
