The Interim Administration of SSC-Khaatumo has called for inclusion in the ongoing National Consultative Council meeting in Mogadishu. In a statement, the administration emphasized its right to participate in discussions on key national issues, including politics, security, and economic development. SSC-Khaatumo urged that its leadership be invited to the talks, where federal and regional leaders are discussing the future of Somalia.
SSC-Khaatumo referenced its February 2023 decision to establish the regional administration, which was recognized by the Federal Government of Somalia in October 2023. The statement highlighted that SSC-Khaatumo’s status as an interim federal member state entitles it to representation in national decision-making processes, as outlined in Somalia’s Provisional Constitution.
The administration stressed the importance of fair representation, stating that excluding a region with significant population and territory from crucial talks on state-building and governance is unacceptable. SSC-Khaatumo also emphasized its right to benefit from development projects and financial support, in line with other federal member states.
SSC-Khaatumo reiterated its commitment to strengthening governance, security, and decentralization in the region. The administration urged the National Consultative Council to ensure inclusivity and fairness in its decision-making processes.
