
The federal republic of Somalia is not relenting in its fight against the terror group Al-Shabaab hours after neutralizing the largest explosive-making facility in the Middle Juba region. The Somali National Army’s elite Danab Special Forces have neutralized 22 militants in the Bay region.
The ministry of defense confirmed on Friday that the raid that took place in the Buur Eyle area of the Buur Hakaba district resulted in the elimination of 22 militants.
The operation targeted a group of the Al-Shabaab terrorists who have been under the radar of the elite Somali forces for some time, and the intelligence report collected confirmed that they were planning suicide attacks and vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices.
The Danab forces successfully neutralized the threat before the plot could be executed in the Buur Hakaba district.
The terror group has been targeting the region to further their activities and had for a long time managed to cut of the Bay region, which was connecting the capital, Mogadishu, to the major city of Baidoa.
The Somalia federal government is firing on all cylinders in the fight against Al-Shabaab and has reaffirmed its commitment to a total elimination of Al-Shabaab, the Bay operation being the 3rd successful mission conducted by Somalia armed forces this year.
The ministry reiterated that the fight against Al-Shabaab will intensify until the terror group is eliminated in totality.
