Somalia Reviews 2025 National Cohesion Progress

MOGADISHU – The Federal Government of Somalia has convened the Technical Advisory Board of the National Cohesion Initiative to review its 2025 annual report and agree on priorities for the coming year.

Speaking at the official opening of the National Cohesion meeting, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, stressed that national unity is the cornerstone of Somalia’s state-building efforts.

“National unity is not merely a policy objective; it is the foundation upon which the government anchors its development agenda and peace,” the Minister said.

The meeting brought together key government institutions and development partners to review the 2025 National Cohesion Initiative annual report, assess progress made under the National Transformation Plan, and endorse strategic priorities for 2026.

The core agenda of the National Cohesion Initiative focuses on reconciliation and healing, addressing past and recurrent grievances through high-level dialogue with communities. It also promotes conflict resolution, social cohesion and integration by fostering a shared national identity, culture, religion and tolerance across Somali society.
