Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Somali delegation to the United Nations attended a high-level international conference in New York focused on the recognition of Palestinian statehood and the fulfillment of their historic rights.

The Federal Government of Somalia reaffirmed its consistent position of solidarity with the people and government of Palestine, recalling that Somalia was among the first countries to recognize Palestinian statehood and has continuously supported efforts aimed at achieving an independent Palestinian state.

Furthermore, the Federal Government of Somalia encouraged countries that have taken the historic decision to recognize the State of Palestine, emphasizing that such recognition strengthens regional stability and peace while upholding the historic rights of the Palestinian people.
