
Raxanreeb Online Mogadishu: The Federal Republic of Somalia and the People’s Republic of China are exploring bilateral agreements in immigration services and the development of digital systems.
Somalia currently is exploring efforts to modernize border management, streamline citizenship processes, and enhance national society through advanced technological systems.
Speaking after receiving People’s Republic of China Ambassador to Somalia H.E. Ambassador Wang Yi at a high-level meeting in Mogadishu, the director general of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia, Mr. Mohammed Aden Duhulow, noted the agency the Somalia government has put in place to modernize and streamline its border management system.
“We are exploring partnerships in immigration services, capacity development, and digital systems,” said Director General Duhulow.
China has been a longstanding development partner to Somalia and has played a major role in infrastructure development, education, health, security operations, and digital technology.
Somalia is keen to have the bilateral agreement focus on capacity building, where major emphasis is on developing the skills and expertise of the immigration and citizenship agency and improving and developing modern systems.
