Somalia PM Hamza Abdi Barre Reshuffles Cabinet, Names New Ministers

MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, has announced changes to his Cabinet, removing several ministers from their posts and appointing new members to the Council of Ministers.

The reshuffle was announced by the Federal Government’s spokesperson, Abdinasir Sheikh Bashir, who read an official press statement to the media.

Under the latest appointments, Prime Minister Barre named Ambassador Jamaal Mohamed Hassan as the Minister of Commerce and Industry, replacing MP Mahmoud Geesood, who previously held the position.

The Prime Minister also appointed Senator Ayub Ismail Yusuf as the Minister of Public Works and Reconstruction, taking over from the outgoing minister.
