Raxanreeb Online Mogadishu: Somalia Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Daud Aweis has reaffirmed Somalia’s position and support for the ceasefire and Palestinian cause and their inalienable right to self-determination.

Minister Daud requested a full and immediate implementation of all agreements reached, with a firm commitment to achieving a two-state solution.

Speaking at the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers in Cairo, Egypt. He said Somalia had made big strides in the fight against violent extremism in the Horn of Africa.

“We are making meaningful strides in peacebuilding and in the fight against terrorist networks that threaten our people and regional security,” he stated.

The forum also discussed Arab media ethics, and Minister Daud called upon the Arab media to work together to foster informed public discourse and resilience against extremism.

“We should build a future where media empower citizens, protect rights, and advance common objectives.” He said.
He also presented the progress Somalia has made towards achieving a direct one-person-one-vote election, noting that the last time Somalia had elections was in 1969. He highlighted the ongoing citizen registrations with the NIRA identity card, targeting 15 million citizens by 2026.

Minister Daud further demonstrated how the current efforts were a big milestone that reflects the resilience and hope of the Somali people and signals renewed democracy.

“we respectfully urge media outlets across the Arab world to give special attention to covering this pivotal moment,” he said
