The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a diplomatic telephone consultation with the Amir of the State of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the conversation, President Hassan Sheikh briefed the Amir on the Federal Government of Somalia’s consistent and principled position regarding developments and initiatives that threaten Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity. The President further highlighted Somalia’s strategic geostrategic location and its central importance to regional peace, security, and stability.

For his part, the Amir of the State of Qatar reaffirmed Qatar’s steadfast, principle-based support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of the Federal Republic of Somalia. He emphasized the imperative of adhering to the Charter of the United Nations and the established international norm of respect for the borders of sovereign states.
