Raxanreeb Online Mogadishu: The federal government of Somalia is set to enhance its border security with the support of the UK.

The UK is currently conducting a training program for the officials in the immigration and citizenship agency to enhance their skills in document verification and impostor detection.

The director general of Somalia’s immigration and citizenship agency, Mohammed Duhulow, who officially inaugurated the program, said the training was crucial in strengthening the cooperation with the UK.

“The training is an immediate follow-up of my visit in the UK and subsequent home office mission to Mogadishu,” said Director General Duhulow.

The UK has currently been growing its security cooperation with Somalia, and a joint assessment visit by a delegation from the UK Home Office and Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office noted some serious gaps at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.

The current training on document verification and impostor detection will directly address Somalia Airport as a point of entry and departure.

This will make it hard for criminals and other regulars to move easily, hence improving the reputation and Somali’s passport internationally.
