Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has hinted that the federal government is open to dialogue following the ultimatum given by the opposition leader at the Kisimayo summit.
Speaking in the Banadir region in a political rally while drumming up support for his NEW outfit, the Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP), President Mohamud said the government will issue a directive and that they are inclined to have dialogue.
“The government will give a clear directive to the Kisimayo appeal; we will adopt what is constructive and seek to have dialogue,” said the president while addressing his supporters in a political rally.
Political temperatures are high in Somalia after the opposition failed to reach an agreement over the electoral process.
The opposition leaders had formed a community of six leaders who gave a 30-day ultimatum to the president to convene a national dialogue and suspend the December 25th, 2025, local council election in Banadir, which they termed single-party polls.
