The Somalia Future Council has formed a six-member interim coordination and secretariat team drawn from Puntland, Jubbaland, and the Salvation Forum after failing to reach an agreement on the election of a leader.
In a press statement released on Monday after concluding a private meeting on the sidelines of the broader national dialogue in Kisimayo, the group has agreed to fully endorse the national consultative conference decisions held between 18th and 20th December, which focused on the country’s political and economic challenges.
The council also approved a council of six members drawn from the governments of Puntland and Jubaland and the GSS Group.
The six are Maxmed Dhabancad, Dr. Koofi Adam, Abdullahi Carab, Caarshe Saciid, Rashiid Jire, and Saahid Qodhob.
The council members are also expected to draft a 90-day plan, which will focus on localizing the national consultative agreement and stabilizing economic cooperation between the member regions.
