Nairobi (Raxanreeb Online) – Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam “Madobe” and Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni held talks in Nairobi on Thursday with key opposition leaders, including former prime ministers Hassan Ali Kheyre and Abdi Farah Shirdon, and MP Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame.
In a joint statement, the leaders said discussions centered on Somalia’s political and security landscape, with a particular focus on finding a roadmap toward political stability, improved security, and sustainable economic development.
They agreed to convene a wider conference inside Somalia soon to address the country’s ongoing political transition and to reach binding decisions on the way forward.
The Nairobi meeting comes as President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently expressed willingness to re-engage with opposition groups and return to dialogue aimed at resolving political differences.
