(Raxanreeb Online) – Fresh reports have emerged from Hiiraan region after armed assailants attacked two young men on the outskirts of Baladweyne on Monday night, leaving one dead and the other seriously wounded.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of Helekilyo village, located about four kilometers east of Baladweyne town. Witnesses said the victims were transporting animal fodder on a donkey cart to the Baladweyne livestock market when they were ambushed.

According to local sources, the attackers opened fire directly at the youths before fleeing the scene. One of the victims died instantly, while the other sustained severe injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Security forces in Hiiraan have not yet issued a statement regarding the attack, and no arrests have been reported.

This shocking incident comes amid a recent surge in insecurity in Baladweyne, where armed gangs have carried out a series of violent crimes in recent months.
