Somali government forces, backed by international partners, have carried out airstrikes targeting Al-Shabaab positions in Suullaay, an area located approximately 17 kilometres south of Teedaan in the Hiiraan region.
In a statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Defence said the operation killed 25 Al-Shabaab militants, while four others surrendered to government forces.
The ministry said the military operation remains underway and that government forces are expected to secure additional areas from the armed group.
The latest operation comes amid an intensified military campaign against Al-Shabaab across parts of Hiiraan and surrounding areas in recent days.
Somali forces receive aerial support in counterterrorism operations from international partners, including Türkiye and the United States.
