IOC Jeddah meeting want Gaza Military operation halted

The Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IOC) has condemned what they termed as a systematic plan to alter the demographic and geographic identity of Northern Gaza and accused the Israeli forces of implementing a policy of forced displacement and starvation.

In a press statement after an emergency committee meeting held in Jeddah, the IOC warned that it will not allow the military strategies aimed at emptying the inhabitants of the northern Gaza Strip.

Earlier this week in an emergency parliamentary sitting, President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud accused Somaliland of entering a secret deal with Israel to relocate displaced Palestinians to Somaliland and create a military base along the Gulf of Aden, a move that the house unanimously rejected.

The IOC also called upon the UN Security Council to take decisive measures to enforce a ceasefire and hold perpetrators of alleged war crimes accountable through an international legal framework and demanded the immediate opening of humanitarian aid to the affected areas.

The 57-member bloc committee demanded the protection of Palestinian land rights.
The secretary general of the IOC noted that the current military operations in the north are a tactical operation and plan to eliminate Palestinian presence in the area.

The IOC has instructed its diplomatic groups across the globe to mobilize resources and support for a new UN General Resolution to protect civilians.

They, however, warned that peace will be impossible to be achieved in the region if the 1967 borders are not achieved for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital city.
