Belgrade (Raxanreeb Online) — Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, held a high-level meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Bratislav Gašić, in Belgrade to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations, with a particular focus on military cooperation.
During the talks, Minister Fiqi emphasized Somalia’s unwavering commitment to regional peace and stability, underlining the country’s ongoing efforts in the fight against terrorist groups and the promotion of long-term security.
For his part, Serbia’s Defence Minister reaffirmed his country’s readiness to support Somalia in building its defence capacity. He highlighted potential areas of collaboration including military training, intelligence sharing, and logistical support, which could significantly bolster ties between the two nations.
The ministers also explored opportunities for joint military exercises and cooperative defence technology research, signaling a step toward deeper and more strategic cooperation.
This visit forms part of Somalia’s broader efforts to strengthen the capabilities of the Somali National Army and to expand international partnerships in pursuit of lasting security and stability.
