Raxanreeb Online Mogadishu: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, has called upon African countries to embrace the foundational role of national sovereignty in securing Africa’s future despite the strong geopolitical and economic challenges faced by many African countries.
Minister Abdislam made his remark at the 17th Edition of the MEDays Forum in Tangier, Morocco, with the theme “Re-emerging Africa, Winning Africa.”
“National sovereignty is important in supporting effective governance, economic resilience, and long-term stability.”
He highlighted the challenges faced in the Horn of Africa and emphasized the need to broaden African focus away from politics and put more emphasis on good resource management, people-centered leadership, and building development strategies that protect Africa from external influence.
The forum, which had over 4500 delegates from across Africa, which included heads of state and international relations experts, focused on Africa’s evolving political and economic landscape.
The experts further called upon the African countries to rethink international dynamics now that many African countries are facing rising geopolitical tensions and global polarization.
The forum will come to a close on the 29th of November, where African leaders are looking forward to resolving key challenges affecting their states internally.
For Somalia the forum underscores efforts made by the government to consolidate central government authority and manage internal security threats.
