Foreign ministers of the member states of the Arab League are scheduled to hold a virtual meeting today to deliberate on the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, with particular focus on the recent Iranian strikes targeting several Gulf states.
The emergency consultation comes amid heightened regional tensions following the attacks, which reportedly resulted in both human casualties and material damage in a number of Arab countries. Diplomats say the meeting will seek to evaluate the broader security and political implications of the escalation and to coordinate a collective Arab response to the developments.
Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which had earlier issued a statement condemning the strikes, is expected to reiterate its position during the meeting. The Somali government has previously expressed deep concern over the attacks, describing them as actions that have caused significant loss of life and property across parts of the Arab region.
According to diplomatic sources, Somalia will also use the forum to advocate for de-escalation and renewed diplomatic engagement aimed at achieving a sustainable and unconditional peace across the Middle East. The country is expected to emphasize the importance of dialogue and regional stability, while distancing itself from any actions that may contribute to further conflict or instability in the region.
