SW State President Meets TURKSOM Commander in Baidoa to Boost Security Ties

South West State President Abdulaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen on Monday received a delegation led by Brigadier General Sebahattin, Commandant of Turkey’s TURKSOM Military Academy, at the presidential palace in Baidoa.

According to officials, the meeting focused on strengthening security cooperation, expanding training programmes, and improving the professional capacity of Somali security forces—particularly units operating in South West State.

Discussions also highlighted Turkey’s continued role in supporting the rebuilding of the Somali National Army, enhancing soldiers’ skills and readiness, and deepening coordination aimed at reinforcing national security and overall stability.

President Laftagareen expressed appreciation to the Government of Türkiye for its sustained support to Somalia, underscoring the importance of long-term partnership to advance peace and development.
