MOGADISHU [SMN] – The Somali government has firmly backed Saudi Arabia in response to recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who suggested that the kingdom should allocate land for Palestinians.
In an official statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, describing Netanyahu’s comments as unacceptable. The government emphasized that Saudi Arabia is a sovereign nation, fully entitled to make its own decisions, and that its policies must be respected.
Somalia also reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people, asserting their right to an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. The government made it clear that Palestinians should not be displaced from their homeland and that any lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must be rooted in their legitimate right to self-determination.
Furthermore, Somalia urged the international community to take a more active role in supporting a peaceful and just resolution for Palestine, while ensuring the protection of Palestinian rights.
The statement comes at a time of growing regional and global tensions, underscoring the continued urgency of addressing the Palestinian issue on the international stage.
