Opposition and Regional Leaders Meet in Kismayo for Electoral Talks Agenda

Kismayo (Raxanreeb Online) — Opposition politicians from the Samatabixinta Forum and a number of federal member state leaders are expected to open a meeting today in the coastal city of Kismayo, where they say they will discuss the country’s political situation.

According to opposition figures, the meeting aims to unify the opposition’s political positions and agree on a joint strategy on key national priorities—particularly the country’s electoral process.

Organisers said the gathering follows earlier calls by opposition leaders for broad-based political dialogue and consultations.

Earlier, former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed arrived in Kismayo, accompanied by a delegation that includes members of parliament who are expected to take part in the meeting.

Security in Kismayo has been significantly tightened, with large numbers of troops deployed across the city’s roads to maintain order.

Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
