Kenya Deploys More Troops Near Somalia Frontier Amid Rising Al-Shabaab Threat

The government of Kenya has reinforced its military deployment along the border with Somalia, citing growing security concerns linked to potential attacks by the militant group Al-Shabaab, according to multiple security sources.

Kenyan military units, supported by a large convoy of vehicles, have reportedly advanced toward border areas, while additional troops have been deployed at key crossing points used by vehicles traveling between the two countries. The measures are aimed at tightening border control and preventing militant infiltration.

Security sources said that Kenya’s president recently held high-level consultations with senior officials from the military, intelligence services, and the police. The meetings focused on strengthening national security, enhancing border surveillance, and preventing possible attacks by Al-Shabaab inside Kenya and against military bases located near the frontier.

Kenyan authorities are particularly concerned about protecting strategic supply routes used to transport logistics to Kenyan forces deployed in Somalia. Officials also fear that any escalation in cross-border attacks could lead to a deterioration of internal security conditions within Kenya.

The latest deployments reflect Nairobi’s efforts to safeguard its borders, ensure the continuity of military operations in Somalia, and prevent instability from spilling over into its territory.
