China Steps Up Role in Securing Somalia’s Sovereignty and National Security

Mogadishu, Somalia — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, on Tuesday held a bilateral meeting with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, Wang Yu.

The talks focused on Somalia’s overall situation, with particular emphasis on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of security, economic development, and political engagement. Prime Minister Hamza highlighted the government’s determination to further enhance its diplomatic efforts in order to advance the shared interests of both countries, especially at a time when Somalia is undergoing a critical phase of security stabilization and economic recovery.

Ambassador Wang Yu reaffirmed China’s commitment to maintaining and expanding its longstanding partnership with Somalia, stressing Beijing’s readiness to continue supporting the Federal Government of Somalia in the fields of security, investment, and economic growth.

Prime Minister Hamza expressed appreciation for China’s consistent support and solidarity with Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and commended China’s significant role in infrastructure development and humanitarian assistance.
