The Federal Government of Somalia has reportedly ordered the return of armed security personnel who had departed from Garowe and Kismayo as advance teams for Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe.
The decision followed the circulation of images on social media showing the forces traveling from Garowe and Kismayo while armed, with some personnel wearing full tactical gear. Multiple sources confirmed that the authorities instructed the units to return to their points of origin.
The Federal Republic of Somalia has not issued an official statement explaining the reasons behind the move. The personnel were reportedly part of advance security arrangements ahead of the two regional leaders’ expected visit to Mogadishu for talks involving the federal government and opposition figures.
No public response has been issued by Puntland or Jubbaland, and it remains unclear how the decision will affect the planned travel of the two leaders to the capital.
