Hassan Sheikh Mohamud convened a high-level consultative meeting with a delegation of prominent traditional elders from Puntland, led by Sultan Zubeyr Sultan Haji Mahmoud, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce cooperation between the Federal Government and customary leadership.

The meeting brought together senior representatives from the Leelkase community within the Federal Government of Somalia and focused on key national priorities, including the evolving political landscape, strengthening institutional collaboration, and enhancing the role of traditional elders in advancing peacebuilding and state formation.

The engagement was facilitated by the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mohamed Farah Nuuh Dheere, who played a central role in coordinating the dialogue.

This marks the second such engagement between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Puntland-based traditional elders, underscoring a sustained approach to inclusive governance, national cohesion, and the integration of indigenous leadership structures into Somalia’s broader state-building agenda.
