Federal Government of Somalia forces have been deployed to Jalalaqsi district in the Hiiraan region following days of renewed fighting between clan militias, which has resulted in casualties, injuries, and the displacement of civilians.
The deployment comes as Hirshabelle Vice President Yusuf Ahmed Hagar, known as Dabageed, together with senior officials from the Federal Government and the Hirshabelle administration, arrived in Jalalaqsi on Saturday to support efforts aimed at de-escalating the conflict.
The officials have held meetings with traditional elders, community leaders, intellectuals, and representatives of local communities as part of mediation efforts to secure an immediate end to the violence and prevent further escalation.
According to the latest reports, the situation in Jalalaqsi is currently calm, although reconciliation and mediation efforts remain underway between the parties involved in the clashes.
The Federal Government and the Hirshabelle administration have appealed for an immediate cessation of hostilities, urging all sides to prioritise peace, stability, and peaceful coexistence among communities in the district.
