Mogadishu (Raxanreeb Online) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation are expected to arrive in Mogadishu, Somalia, on Thursday. Preparations are underway for their reception as the Somali government tightens security measures across the capital.
According to reliable sources, Abiy’s visit aims to finalize the agreement previously reached between Somalia and Ethiopia under Turkish mediation. The discussions will build on negotiations held earlier in Turkey, focusing on resolving the diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
An advance Ethiopian delegation has already arrived in Mogadishu to coordinate the visit, including preparations for discussions and logistical arrangements for Abiy’s engagements in the city.
Security has been significantly heightened in Mogadishu, with authorities expected to enforce road closures on key routes during the visit.
Relations between Somalia and Ethiopia have been strained, particularly following Ethiopia’s maritime agreement with Somaliland. However, Turkey’s mediation has facilitated dialogue between the two governments, paving the way for potential diplomatic resolutions.
Abiy Ahmed’s visit is expected to be a crucial moment in ongoing efforts to ease tensions and solidify agreements between the two countries.
