Explosion in Mogadishu’s Heliwaa District Leaves One Dead, Soldiers Injured

Mogadishu, Somalia – At least one civilian was killed and several government soldiers were injured after an explosion struck the Suuqa Xoolaha neighborhood in Heliwaa district, Banaadir region, on Sunday.

According to local sources, the blast targeted a patrol unit of the Federal Government forces operating in the area. Security personnel quickly cordoned off the scene and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and to pursue those suspected of carrying it out.

The incident temporarily disrupted traffic along the busy road connecting the SOS junction and Suuqa Xoolaha, though movement was restored shortly afterward. Wounded soldiers were transferred to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes amid heightened security operations across the capital.
