Jowhar, Somalia – One person was killed and more than two others were injured on Monday following a clan clash between Garaash and Moyko villages, located south of Jowhar, the capital of Hirshabelle State.
According to multiple sources who spoke to Mustaqbal Media, the conflict stemmed from a longstanding dispute over grazing land. The tension eventually escalated into an armed confrontation, resulting in the fatality and injuries.
Security personnel from the Hirshabelle Presidential Guard, in coordination with traditional elders from both clans, intervened to enforce a ceasefire and initiate dialogue aimed at resolving the dispute and preventing further violence.
Inter-clan conflicts related to land and resource grievances have increased across several regions of Somalia in recent months, leading to deaths, injuries, and growing concerns among civilians not involved in the fighting.
Authorities have urged the armed militias to halt hostilities immediately. The Military Court has also recently handled cases involving individuals accused of carrying out violent acts linked to clan revenge killings.
