Mogadishu (Raxanreeb Online) – Somali Federal MP Abdi Ladiif Muse (Sanyare) has announced that lawmakers are preparing a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
According to MP Sanyare, the plan is to table the motion when Parliament resumes its session on August 23. He stated that 120 members of the House of the People have already signed the motion, with only 20 more signatures needed before it is formally submitted.
The lawmaker urged colleagues who wish to join the motion to contact him, using the term “worship” metaphorically to describe participation.
“The no-confidence motion against the government of Hamza Abdi Barre, which will be brought forward on Saturday, August 23, insha’Allah, has been signed by 120 MPs. We still need 20 more. Any MP who wishes to ‘worship’ should get in touch with me,” Sanyare wrote.
While MP Sanyare did not directly state the reasons behind the move, independent sources indicate that it stems from political concerns and internal disputes within the House of the People over the government’s management and performance under Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
