Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held an evening meeting in Jeddah with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptian Expatriates. The meeting took place on the margins of the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the talks, the two ministers engaged in comprehensive and substantive discussions regarding what they described as Israel’s unlawful recognition of the so-called “Somaliland” in north-western Somalia. Both sides categorically rejected any measure that undermines the unity, sovereignty, or territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The ministers further underscored the imperative of full respect for international law and reaffirmed their support for all diplomatic and political efforts aimed at safeguarding Somalia’s national unity, stability, and internationally recognized borders.
