The Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held a bilateral meeting with his Palestinian counterpart, Farsan Shahin, in Riyadh, on the sidelines of ongoing diplomatic engagements. During the meeting, both sides expressed serious concern over Israel’s reported move, emphasizing that it violates international legal principles and undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Minister Abdisalam briefed his counterpart on Somalia’s strengthened diplomatic efforts aimed at safeguarding national unity, noting that the government has intensified its regional and international outreach to counter actions that threaten the country’s territorial integrity.
For his part, the Palestinian Foreign Minister described Israel’s claimed recognition as unlawful, reaffirming Palestine’s firm support for Somalia’s unity, independence, and sovereignty, and pledging continued diplomatic backing in relevant international and multilateral forums.
Somalia and Palestine are jointly participating in the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation currently underway in Riyadh. Meanwhile, the Somali delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government, has in recent hours held separate bilateral meetings with officials from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, and other partner states as part of broader diplomatic consultations.
