Somalia Steps Up Night Security in Mogadishu

Mogadishu — Security forces under the Federal Government of Somalia have intensified coordinated security operations across the capital, with senior police officials and station commanders leading expanded nighttime patrols aimed at strengthening public safety and safeguarding stability.

According to security officials, the operations include increased field inspections and supervisory visits during late hours to assess operational readiness and ensure consistent enforcement of security measures across key districts.

Authorities have also expanded vehicle screening checkpoints throughout the city. Joint units composed of the Somali Police Force and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) are conducting systematic inspections of vehicles and passengers to prevent the illegal transport of weapons and other materials that could threaten public security.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Abdikarim Mohamed, Commander of the Police Station in Warta Nabadda District, participated in oversight patrols across several districts of the Banaadir Region. He called on residents to cooperate fully with security personnel, stressing that community engagement remains a critical pillar in sustaining peace and preventing destabilizing activities.

Federal authorities and security agencies have reiterated the importance of close collaboration between citizens and law enforcement institutions as part of broader efforts to consolidate stability, enhance public confidence, and ensure durable peace in the Somali capital.
