Al-Shabaab militants have been accused of planting explosives in a major market located in the Tabeelaha Sheekh Ibraahim area on the outskirts of Mogadishu. Reports are emerging about the extent of the damage caused by two explosions that occurred this morning.
According to local residents, the explosives specifically targeted the market, with sources indicating that the attacks may have been triggered by the recent installation of CCTV cameras ordered by the Somali government. The explosions have caused significant destruction, with most of the market’s commercial establishments heavily damaged or destroyed by the ensuing fire.
In recent days, there has been an increase in bomb attacks on the outskirts of the Somali capital, Mogadishu. Similar attacks were recently carried out in the Ceelasha Biyaha area, resulting in substantial property losses.
