Somalia’s Federal Parliament Swears In New MP and Deputy Ministers

The Standing Committee of the Federal Parliament of Somalia convened an extraordinary session in Mogadishu today, during which newly appointed ministers and a member of parliament were formally sworn in.

The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), and took place at the parliamentary headquarters in Villa Hargeisa. Opening the session, the Speaker briefed members of the Standing Committee on his recent visit to Baidoa, the interim capital of Southwest State, where he outlined recent political developments and leadership changes, as well as ongoing federal efforts to support the electoral process for the regional administration.

During the session, the Auditor General of the House of the People administered the oath of office to Abdulqadir Mohamed Nur (Jama), who was formally sworn in as a member of the 11th Federal Parliament. The ceremony also included the swearing-in of three deputy ministers: Ismail Ciid Mohamed as Deputy Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, Hassan Mohamed Ali as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Nadiifo Aadan Isaaq as Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources.
