Somalia’s President Survives Mogadishu Blast While En Route to Frontlines

Mogadishu (Raxanreeb Online) – A roadside explosion struck the Gaheer area of Xamar Jajab district in Mogadishu’s Banaadir region earlier today, causing multiple casualties, eyewitnesses report.

The attack, believed to be the result of a remotely detonated improvised explosive device (IED), was placed on the wall of a residential building near the Ceelgaabta intersection. The blast occurred as a convoy carrying Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was passing through the area on its way to military frontlines.

Emergency response teams have confirmed that at least eight individuals sustained injuries and were transported to medical facilities in Mogadishu. Rescue efforts are ongoing to assist those impacted, particularly those inside the targeted building.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the attack, and no group has claimed responsibility. Security forces have launched an investigation into the incident.
